My husband, a C3-5 incomplete quad, was just diagnosed with bladder cancer and we are facing possible bladder removal. We have a lot of questions about urostomies...care, infection risk, etc. Does anyone on the forum have experience they can share? Also, his bowel care program requires application of a good bit of abdominal pressure. We wonder if he may need to get an ileostomy at the same time as a urostomy to avoid damaging the surgical area. So, if someone has both urostomy and colostomy or ileostomy, we would love to hear your words of wisdom!

quadwife2014, First off I would like to say welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear about your husband's cancer. I'm not sure how much help I can be. I myself, have a suprapubic catheter and ostomy bag. I wish I had known about the option of having a colostomy, much sooner than I did. There are others here on the forum that are knowledgeable and willing to share their experiences. I wish you and your husband good outcomes on this leg of the journey.
