Hi- I am reaching out in the hope of getting any helpful information. My husband ( now 47) had a T10 complete spinal injury at age 17. He since was very fit and healthy and is an ex Paralympic athlete. However, over the last few months has had some very concerning symptoms and admissions to hospital via ambulance. The consultants/ doctors and staff in A and E seem unable to look holistically at the multitude of symptoms ( as well as his medical history of Sci) and certainly seem to be extremist when considering his sci ( ie not taking it into account at all or ‘writing it all off’ as what to expect having been in a chair for so long!! - either way not really listening and piecing together his jigsaw pieces of health needs) It’s driving me crazy and I am sure he can’t be the only one going through this dismissive process, all the while suffering with untreated/un- explored difficulties impacting on his daily, quality of life. I would love to hear your stories and also if anyone has turned to a chiropractor who has had a long term spinal cord injury and has a variety of health and pain issues.
As other medical investigations seem to have come up with barriers - including physical steps to an MRI machine, we researched ourselves and feel possibly chiropractors could be helpful.
Any shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.
