Hello all. I am new to this forum, please have patience for the new guy lol. Five years ago I suffered a spinal abscess between (T3-T8) at which paralyzed me from mid waist down. These past five years I have rehabbed continually 5-6 days a week. Doing this has helped me regain the ability to walk, which I am grateful for. Unfortunately my bowel and bladder function have not yet returned, which is devastating to my morale in day to day life. This leads to my questions. Has anyone ever recovered b/b years after their injury? Does anyone know or has heard of any future treatments or cures for b/b dysfunction? I want to conclude by stating if anyone has any questions about my injury and recovery please don’t hesitate to ask. I look forward to interacting with everyone. Thanks 🙂
If there is to be a tiny little sign of a proven improvement due to treatment all the world would know and a nobel prize given believe me. beware of sites/clinics offering treatment for cash or people using chit chat internet sites to say what's going on in a clinical trial in a far off country the likes of China.
As I mentioned in your introductory post, there is no cure right now. The best thing to do is to manage your daily routine as efficiently as possible so that you are in full control.
For newly injured ( im presuming that your injury is recent), it is possibly for some or all function to return but this is due to and depending on nerve regeneration. This will depend on other factors but it is a positive sign that you can walk.
Take a journal and write a diary each day on your progress, when you look back, you will see how much you have improved because any regeneration is slow, so slow that you may not notice it happening but looking back through a journal will show you the progress.
