Do you live in the UK? Do you have a child who has been affected by a spinal cord injury?
At Spinal Research we know how devastating a spinal cord injury can be. We are fighting to improve things for the 50,000 children and adults living with paralysis in the UK and Ireland. Big advances have been made in recent years but more medical research is vital, to help find ways of repairing and ultimately reversing injuries to the spinal cord.
We are launching a new national appeal in the UK to help fund this groundbreaking research. To do this successfully it is important that we explain the impact of spinal injury on people's lives so everyone can understand the devastation it causes. If more people out there care then they will dig deep to help us to end spinal cord paralysis. We would very much like to hear from anyone - particularly, at the moment, anyone living in the UK - who is able to help us do this by telling their story about how spinal cord injury has affected their child and their family. We also want to know about people's hopes for the future and what research breakthroughs could eventually mean to them.
It is not an easy thing to tell these stories and we will always endeavour to be as sensitive and supportive as possible.

To sum it up, sustaining a spinal cord injury or a spinal condition is devastating and it makes a huge negative impact in the lives of many people. What is our hope for the future you ask? Some kind of a cure!
